Change vs. Consistency

This blog was meant to be raw and real and personal to hopefully show my relationship with Christ so that in turn God can speak through me to you. So let's be real then.

I'm in my early twenties, 23 to be exact and if you're in your early twenties or remember that time, you may be familiar with change. My relationships are evolving, I'm evolving, life is changing and I'm struggling.

I'm scared that the friends that I have won't be my friends forever. My friends, although were the same age, are each on their own life journey and there's no guarantee that includes me in the future. Some friends are recently single and some have been single their whole lives. Some have been married and some are recently engaged. Some are in school, some are working and some are traveling. Some live alone, some have a roommate and some live with their parents. Everyone is trying their best to figure it out. Including me. I'm preparing to start a new job, I'm only in my 2nd semester of my grad program and I don't know how I'm going to do both. I don't know when or if I should move out of my parents house or if I should start dating. Even my relationship with the Lord is changing , as I'm not who I used to be and God is guiding me in a new direction.

You can see how overwhelming this can be and I'm in the thick of it. I have many thoughts about my future but only God can determine that. I have a lot of worries that I must release to Him because I know He can handle it all. As dense as my feelings are about the changes that may be occurring in mine and my friends lives, I have to remember that fortunately God doesn't change. I can rest in that. If you're feelings are similar, here is a verse that stuck out to me.

  • "The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yolk while he is young" Lamentations 3:25-27

It is good to struggle while young. Thank the Lord we can struggle with Him by our side and with Him consistently being bigger than whatever struggle we face. Romans 5:3 speaks on this "we glory in our sufferings because we know it produces perseverance" God is producing strength and perseverance in us during this time so that we may be prepared to face what He has for us later. So what a blessing change is. Without the struggle of change, we may not be able to grow and rely on Christ to make it through that struggle.

So while we may be stressed, worried and frustrated with changes and newness that we're experiencing, we can trust in a consistent God. We can also shift our perspective in recognizing the positive aspects of change and how God is developing us while young to better prepare the way (Isaiah 40:3) for Him in the future.

My prayer over you🤍

*I pray that you release your fears and plans unto the Lord and that this post brought you some peace and encouragement. I pray you continue to seek Jesus through the struggle and that you remember how unfailing the Lord our God is. Yahweh, your power has never failed and it never will. Help us to remember that power and to rely on you always. In Jesus name, Amen.
